Cocktail of the Month: August

Go for a Skinny Dipper

National Oyster Day is August 5, and to mark this auspicious event, B&O American Brasserie bar lead Jenghis Manning-Pettit has created a local take on the oyster shooter. Featuring a local Skinny Dipper oyster, Baltimore Spirits Co. Shot Tower gin, and the restaurant’s house bloody Mary mix. Choose a single ($7) or a double or a “tower,” with two oysters and twice the gin ($10).

“I wanted to showcase a local spirit with a delicious Skinny Dipper, a local Chesapeake oyster,” says Manning-Pettit. “The gin lends the oyster a nice backbone (lol) and the juniper and botanicals leave a pleasant aftertaste so you’re not just sitting with a mouthful of brine.” Try the drink with the B&O’s Hangtown Fry Burger, a variation on the eggs-bacon-oyster combo made famous during the 1850s California Gold Rush.
