Newlyweds drinking, eating and playing in their own backyard

Union United
by Megan DeMillo

Union Craft Brewing has been around since 2011 and quickly became a favorite spot to hang out with friends when I moved to Baltimore. It wasn’t until I started dating my boyfriend (now husband), Chris, who was a big beer fan that I started spending more time there.

In 2018 Union moved into a new space in Hampden that is MUCH LARGER than their previous brewery and is home to various other businesses like Earth TreksThe Charmery and Vent Coffee Roasters to name a few.

We hadn’t visited The Union Collective yet, but finally had a chance to go last week and can I just say, that we are HUGE fans. We easily spent hours at Union enjoying beer, cider, food, and friends and if I’m sharing my now expert opinion, there are things you MUST do when visiting Union Craft Brewing.

BEER, BEER, & MORE BEER

Union Craft Brewing is well known for their first beer, Duckpin Pale Ale as well as other local favorites- Blackwing Lager, Old Pro and Anthem Golden Ale. I try something different every time I visit and on this particular day I enjoyed the Cherry Berliner Cider which tasted more like a sour beer than a cider to me, but was still very good!

GRUB

Well Crafted Kitchen has a kitchen in Union Craft Brewing and whipped up the most delicious Margherita Pizza. I loved being able to order my food and go back to my friends while I waited for it to cook. The staff just texted me when my food was ready and I was able to grab it quickly and head back to the bar. I split it with a friend, but I think we both secretly wished we had had our own!

AIR STREAM PHOTOS

I LOVE a Photo Booth and especially love when it’s a Pixilated Photo Booth. The airstream with sofa seating and a pixilated machine inside is the perfect photo opportunity within Union Craft Brewing. We had a great time snapping pics of the day and love that the airstream looked SO STINKIN COOL in the taproom. Even without the Photo Booth it would be a unique aesthetic addition to the taproom.

BEER AL FRESCO

Although my first visit happened to be on a very cold and rainy January day, I still popped outside to check out the outdoor seating/patio situation. I have seen so many photos of Jessie & Katey’s mural and was NOT disappointed at how beautiful it is in person. Of course, my Instagram Husband was hard at work taking stunning photos and I can’t wait to head back in the Spring and Summer to fully enjoy the outdoor space.
